Orientation / Configuration Rules

How do pieces appear on the printed output? If “Enable User Defined Member Orientations” is not checked in (Setup) Defaults, the program decides how to display the pieces. If this is checked then the program uses the Orientation scheme set up in (Setup) Orientations and associated with an Individual Sort in the Defaults tab of that sort. The rules below are used to change those orientations if needed to allow the piece to be cut by a MiTek or Trussmaster saw. These rules will also occasionally cause a piece to “fall though” the sort if the saw cannot physically cut the piece.

Note: The Type, File Group, and Saw Configuration are setup in the Output Device Groups.

Standard – Do not use any of the other rules listed below. This will mean that the only Orientation Configuration selected will determine the piece orientation. No other additional logic will be used.

MiTek – Use special logic that ensures that pieces that cannot be cut with a MiTek saw are dropped from the sort. If rotating the piece beyond its original default orientation will allow the piece to be cut, the logic will do so. This logic is always used in conjunction with a Saw Configuration, which describes the physical properties of the saw (number of blades, diameters of the blades, etc.). (*.ezy files) – MiTek saw files

Clary – This only initiates special logic for calculating RE’s for Clary saws, it does not invoke piece orientation logic as the “MiTek” setting does.

Trussmaster – Special logic is invoked, similar to the MiTek setting to orient pieces. (*.hay files) – Trussmaster saw files

Rotary/Mangotech – same as the Trussmaster.

Show “**” If Max Stock Length is Exceeded

If this is checked, the string “**” appears next to the Overall Length of any piece that exceeds the maximum available Stock Length.

Show “T” for Overall Length and Show “Z” for Stock Length

If checked, the text strings “T” and “Z” are added as prefixes before each piece’s Overall Length and Stock Length respectively.

Plate Sort Files

These are used to sort and order plate lists. There is only one main area to be setup in a plate sort file, namely sort fields.

Plate Sort Fields

This works in the exact same way as the timber sortfields, select the required sort keys from the list on the left side of the screen. Order the selected sort keys to represent required output order. Available keys are:

Job name / reference – sort order by the job name (mainly used if processing more than 1 job at a time).

Truss name – sort order by truss name

Truss type – sort order by truss type

Type – sort order by type

Gauge description – sort order by gauge description

Gauge thickness – sort order & max/min thickness

Width – sort order & max/min width for sort file.

Sell – sort order by sell price
